Umphrey's McGee takes Philadelphia: Night 3
10/22/2016
Words: Steven Vickner | Photos & Vids: Alex Buschiazzo
The team at 215Music would like to take a moment to say thank you to Umphrey’s McGee, band and crew, for inviting us to come out and hang at the Fillmore for three nights of guitar shredding, dance and rawk! We had a blast documenting the three nights from every angle in the venue as Mr. Waful lit the chandelier-filled room as only he can do. It was a pleasure meeting everyone and we wish you all a great Fall run.
For those of you we met along the way at the venue or interacted with on social media, thank you for helping to contribute to the good vibes. The band stretched their catalog of originals and covers, delivering more than a handful of tasty jams. To top it off, the band got to celebrate their Chicago Cubs World Series clincher during the set break of night three. If you have not heard the shows yet then you missed highlights such as: 16-minute “Ringo”, with an extended “Jessica” jam; “In the Kitchen”, with Marc Brownstein on bass; 5-song acoustic segment; and a return of the Nine Inch Nails song “Wish”, played for only the second time ever. Like with most good live music shows, someone was wise enough to record the all of this and you can find that here.
Umphrey’s McGee returns to the Philadelphia area on January 22 at the absolutely gorgeous Penn’s Peak venue in Jim Thorpe, PA. We hope to see you at the next show and look forward to more Philly #umphlove in the near future. Be sure to follow/like us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for real-time updates and photos of the bands you care about most, here in the greater Philly area.
