Miss Cantaloupe Set to Release first full-length album, 'Beets Began To Rise'
Philly area art-rock troupe Miss Cantaloupe set to release their freshmen album coming up on May 25th, Beets Began To Rise.
Pure celestial sounds of earth, dreams, and love...Beets Began to Rise delivers heavenly, layered harmonies transporting us to dreamy and sometimes psychedelic landscapes, bouncing from reggae sounds, hints of surf rock, and strongly-led vocal melodies. In tandem, the album masterfully delivers fun interludes and outros, and even the soft sounds of the ocean wind. Songwriter, singer, and guitarist Christina Klaproth leads this young pack of minstrels and provides angelic lead vocals, helping add to the mix of a full 'Dream Pop' sound creatively accented by the handpan, cello, glockenspiel, and flute. Groovy guitar licks, skilled keyboard arpeggios, and the soft buttery sounds of the handpan are heard throughout the album, creating a calm, earthy, fun album that captures the many faces of Miss Cantaloupe.
Klaproth comments on the album's closing track, "After we finished recording the original 7 tunes our producer, Drew Taurisano, asked if there was anything else we wanted to record. Sean and I looked at each other..."we could do Lava Girl's Lullaby" so he recorded his handpan as the rhythm/bones of the track and I recorded my guitar & scratch vocals. When we were done, Drew was astounded...he couldn't believe that we weren't more adamant about recording it. We didn't really play it full band much so we never really fleshed that aspect of the song out. But it was some studio magic. There were a few studio magic moments during the recording of this album that I'll always remember fondly."
Beets Began To Rise will release on Beardspace Records on May 25th, and was recorded at Cambridge Sound Studios in South Philadelphia in the Spring of 2019, produced by Drew Taurisano and mixed by Tucker Hill.
