Funk Troupe Turkuaz joins Lettuce & The Soul Rebels at Fillmore Philly 11/2
If you haven't been paying attention, the Brooklyn funk squad of Turkuaz has put the pedal to the metal this past year with a comprehensive tour which will bring them to Philadelphia on Friday November 2nd joining headliners Lettuce and The Soul Rebels. Since hitting the road with a full band in 2012, the 9-piece outfit has done extensive touring and have produced colorful and flourishing albums like their live album, A Live Affair (2013), Future 86 (2014), Digitonium(2015), and 040717 (2018), with their latest LP release, Life In The City (2018).
With such an eclectic mix of talent, one often wonders how nine musicians are able to mesh together. Earlier in October, co-founder and Lead Guitarist Dave Brandwein explained to Syracuse.com, 'Each person brings their own really unique style and musicianship. It's not the type of band where anyone is a hired hand, we're all really close. We're basically a family...Each person very specifically contributes to the dynamic. That's kind of where the color thing comes from because we each wear our own designated color scheme in the band..."

The upcoming Philadelphia appearance with Lettuce and The Soul Rebels marks the band's second appearance at The Fillmore Philadelphia, with their first being last year on 6/24/2017 for the Inaugural Funk of Ages with Lettuce, Snarky Puppy, Turkuaz, Bokante, Ivan Neville and Funky Dawgz Brass Band.
Following the Fillmore, Turkuaz continues on to Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Omaha, Madison, Minneapolis, Chicago, and a slew of West Coast dates, see more tour dates here.
