Joe Russo's Almost Dead coming to Philadelphia's Tower Theatre on 10/18 & 10/19
For the past five years, music aficionados and Grateful Dead fans around the country have been picking up what Joe Russo's Almost Dead(JRAD) has been putting down. A delightful, fresh take on some of the old classics and some of the obscure songs from the Dead's catalog of music. Grateful Dead tribute bands, in general, are very widespread and can be found in almost any major city...and even some of the small ones. JRAD seems to break this mold, being comprised of members who are successful and prosperous in their own worlds of music and who came together for the sheer love of these tunes. The Brooklyn-based quintet was founded in 2013 by drummer Joe Russo, featuring Philly's own Tom Hamilton, Marco Benevento, Dave Dreiwitz and Scott Metzger...These gents have mastered this music and are bringing it to a venue near you.
JRAD begins their Fall Tour here in Philadelphia at the famed Tower Theatre on the West side of the city on October 18th & 19th, a venue renowned for it's multitude of big-name performances and for its ornate internal architecture. This time around in Philly, Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge will be subbing in for Dave Dreiwitz for the first three shows of the tour. These upcoming dates will be the band's first appearance at the Tower Theatre, having performed at the Fillmore Philly in 2016 & 2017. After the 2-night run in Philly they will head south to Washington D.C. to perform at The Anthem, also with Burbridge subbing in, then down south for Suwanee Hulaween Festival on 10/25 at The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. The band finishes up the tour on the West coast in November with 2-night runs at The Wiltern and at Oakland's Fox Theater. Tour schedule, Tickets and RSVP at http://www.joerussosalmostdead.com/
