Phish returns to BB&T Pavilion June 28-30
Phish returns to the Philly area this weekend on their 2019 Summer tour, directly across the river at BB&T Pavilion. This time it's a full 3-day weekend run, the first 3-day, weekend run ever in the Philly area. Preferred hotels are primarily in Old City Philly, Center City and along the Delaware river (Holiday Inn Express)...some further, near the airport. You'll also find a select group of hotels in the nearby Camden area like Cherry Hill(see below). Philly is filled with cabs, Uber, UberX, Lyft, buses and even regional rail trains that can get you around.
If you're driving, you won't find it too hard to get by and park in the area, nor too expensive. Crossing the Ben Franklin Bridge into Philly costs $5 each time ($4 for EZpass users). And believe it or not, we have some great food here so make sure you get out and get a taste of Philly. Find plenty of restaurants, shopping, street food and booze spots in Old City along Market, Chestnut, Walnut, Locust(the Tree streets) and of course South Street (where the hippies meet...or used to).
Camden isn't a place you'll want to hang out or even be near, aside from the venue, this is an area you want to steer clear of pre-show and after-hours. Plenty to do in Philly! Although Philadelphia has decriminalized marijuana with $25/$100 citations, be safe and be careful out there, the venue is indeed in a different city(Camden). The Philadelphia Parking Authority is rather strict with parking in most areas so be sure to double-check the signs and use the parking kiosks. BB&T parking lots will open at 3pm, sound check is usually at 4pm and best heard near the Walt Whitman entrance, venue doors open at 6pm.
Local happenings:
On Saturday June 29th before the show at 2pm, the Philadelphia Taco Festival will be hosted at near the stadiums in South Philly at Xfinity Live at 1100 Pattison Ave, Philadelphia. Also on Sunday, the Reading Terminal hosts 'The Philly Ice Cream Scoop' where they bring together independent ice cream businesses with Reading Terminal Market merchants to celebrate Philly's rich ice cream heritage.
