Eagles Victory Song by Harry Kalas's Son Kane
As a lifelong Eagles fan, Kane Kalas knows full well the raw emotionality behind the anthem.
“The Eagles' Victory Song is not only the fight song of the Philadelphia Eagles, in many ways it is the fight song of the city of Philadelphia itself,” says Kane. “If you're ever in Philly when the Eagles are playing, it doesn't matter where you are or even how much attention you're paying to the game, you're sure to know whenever the Eagles score a touchdown by the rumbling of E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES from a chorus of fans throughout the city. There's nothing more electric than being at the Linc during a playoff game and joining in on the chant after an Eagles score.”
Kane Kalas is a classically trained crooner. His style evokes music’s Golden Age with a contemporary twist. Kalas is a mainstay at Citizens Bank Park, where it has become a tradition for him to sing the Star-Spangled Banner each season at the Philadelphia Phillies’ home opener and when they make the playoffs.
Kane Kalas is the son of Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Fame sportscaster, Harry Kalas, who also used to broadcast Eagles games for Westwood One. Sometimes when Harry had a day off from the game, Kane would have a chance to watch the game at home with him. “I must've been four or five years old the first time I remember watching an Eagles game with my dad and hearing him bellow the Eagles' Victory Song after our first touchdown in the game,” he recalls. “He was a true homer and the biggest reason why he pledged to broadcast only in Philadelphia for his entire career was due to the unparalleled passion of Philadelphia sports fans.”
