April's Featured Artist:
Calla Bere & The Attitude
Hailing from New Hope, Calla Bere & The Attitude Formed in January of 2017 and is led by the powerful vocals and classic songwriting of Calla Bere (Ka-luh Behr), driven by Mastermind's Rich Berends on drums and the eclectic improv-heavy style of Kevin Rovner on guitar. After releasing their debut album, Good Day, in the summer of 2017, the band has been performing all over the Tri-State Area, playing numerous local venues and festivals, harnessing their craft, and working on their next record, set for release later in 2018. Quickly growing a dedicated grassroots fan base, Calla Bere & The Attitude has shared the stage with artists like New Hope's resident shredder, Dean Ween, Michael "Kidd Funkadelic" Hampton, Doug Wimbish, Jimmy Sturr, Chris Caffery, Dave Dreiwitz, Glenn McClelland, Michael Allman, The Freeway Revival, Keith Kenny and many other great local and regional artists.Have performed in notable venues such as the Trocadero Theatre , John and Peter's of New Hope, Cedar Gardens in Hamilton, NJ, ISIS Music Hall in Asheville, Dockside at Dave and Buster's Philly, Strange Brew Tavern in Allentown, the 2300 Arena in Philly, Harper's Pub in Clementon, PUCK Live in Doylestown, among many others.
A fresh young take on Blues-Rock with influences like Tedeschi Trucks Band, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Lake Street Dive and Janice Joplin with a clean and passionate delivery. Calla Bere leads the troupe on vocals and guitar, but you're bound to hear some stellar guitar licks from Kevin Rovner by her side. You'll get a good taste of Rich Berends in the video below which features a great drum solo. With the growing number of jam and funk bands in Philly, one may find it refreshing that Rock/Blues is still alive and well on the Philadelphia music scene. On April 14th, Calla Bere & The Attitude are set to play the Women That Rock festival with Afrobear, Christine Irizarry and The Foolhardy, Renaissance Blvd, and Pieces of Arbor at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia just south of Snyder Ave.
