Sabaton, largely considered to be one of "the big four" of Power Metal, dropped by The Fillmore Tuesday night in support of their most recent album 'The War To End All Wars' (Nuclear Blast). The setlist touched most eras of the band's catalog which takes inspiration from real life historical events, focusing primarily on war. Visually expanding on the musical themes, the stage was dressed in barbed wire, with microphones fixed to stands made to look like machine guns, and drummer Hannes Van Dahl was perched atop a makeshift tank at center stage. Fans were dialed in from the second the band hit the stage and sang along word for word from start to finish. Dutch metal band Epica opened the show with a dazzling set of their hybrid sound, mixing symphonic & power metal with elements of thrash and goth. Sabaton wind up their US tour this weekend, then head to Australia for a handful of festival dates in December, followed by a trek of Sweden, the UK & Europe through Spring 2023
