Solar Circuit's Strange Soiree IV at Morgan Creek Farms in Quakertown, PA 9/27/2025
Solar Circuit returned to Morgan Creek Farms to host their fourth annual festival, Strange Soiree with Baba G & Ben Atkind, DJ Brownie, Solar Circuit, Haley Jane Band, Muscle Tough, The Keith Allen Circus, Qway, Discowolfe, Mike Greenfield, Maantrala & Necika, joined by local & regional artisan crafts and wares in the on-site vendor village. Set on the serene landscape of Morgan Creek Farms, the party kicked off Friday night featuring two sets from Solar Circuit and silent disco into the night, and the pampering of VIPs. The main event kicked off on Saturday at 10am as fans lined up to roll in, with acts performing on three stages with no overlapping sets, so fans never missed a moment.
First up on the Strange stage, we caught up with Necika, the psybient psytrance project from Solar Circuit's Nick and Becca Orlove, who were married on the farm back at Strange Soiree II. Making our way to the Bizzare Barn stage we took in a set from one of our favorite local trios, Qway, dishing out the high-energy psych-rock jams and raising the level early in the day, the band recently released their debut release, solidus, back in May. Next, we caught up with high flying, death defying, trapeze act that is The Keith Allen Circus, in from North Carolina, listen to their single Rob's House. Philly's toughest funk-fusion trio, Muscle Tough, joined the gang at this year at Strange Soiree, playing a late afternoon set in the Bizzare Barn, showing us all about future funk improvisation. At the close of their set, the band announced their Halloween plans at Tonewood Brewing in Barrington NJ with DJ Mike Greenfield, on October 31st. Listen the full set audio here. Genre-blending powerhouse, Haley Jane, brought her band to this year's event with her whirlwind of charisma and visceral, theatrical performances, closing out a busy summer for her and the band.
Taking us into the night was the duo project of Baba G (Jon Gutwillig of the Disco Biscuits) and Ben Atikind of Houseplant, blending live producing and DJ with pre-mixed live instrumentation and select house/techno and even Disco Biscuit tracks, capturing the energy of live music and molding it in real-time. Next up, the main event featured a monster 90-minute set from the Solar Circuit gang on the Strange Stage, weaving through their originals and some fun covers with some ultra-heavy bass from Taylor Jamison, with Becca Orlove on vocals. The band announced at the end of their set that they will perform a Halloween show at Milkboy in Philly on 10/31. Back in the Bizzare Barn, we found DJ Brownie (Marc Brownstein of the Disco Biscuits) spinning away on choice house music and down-tempo beats, showing his versatility on the decks and also with genres of music, with a knack for honing on the vibe of the room.
