Ross Street School Phish Musical

A music teacher at the Ross Street School spent lots of time with his chorus students recently working on the music of Phish, leading them to perform an entire concert of Phish-composed musical with stage acting titled Contact: The Quest for the Black Circle to friends and family in the audience. The youngsters gathered together on stage led by chorus teacher Mark Filoramo on Tuesday in Woodbridge Township, NJ to sing and act out some of the Phish favorites curated by Filoramo like Bouncing Around The Room, Haley's Comet, Simple, My Sweet One, Contact, Character Zero, Theme From The Bottom, and some new favorites like More and Blaze On. In their 34th year as a band Phish has gathered followers of all ages and more recently the younger generation who seem take to the music and to the ideas in Anastasio & Marshall's lyrics. Just one month ago we caught a glimpse of the kids practicing the song More, which can be seen here.
The passing down and spreading of this music to young minds is something very special to the Generation Xers and even Baby Boomers who got into Phish at a bit of an older age themselves, who are now watching their own children absorb and sing this music on a stage. One thing is true, music never dies and we can thank the children for that. We always look to our elders to pass the good stuff down to us but what better way to celebrate the music than from the voices of children. So far the appreciation from fans is pouring in and Filoramo and his students have plenty to be proud of, they all worked long hours on these songs and we congratulate them on a great performance, let's hear some MORE of that! Check out the full set video below on Filoramo's Youtube Channel.
