Tea Eater Unleashes Surreal Lofi Video for “I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck” Performs in Philadelphia at Nikki Lopez 8/13
Brooklyn's weirdo art punk band Tea Eater premiered their latest music video for “I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck”, the title track off their sophomore LP, via Psychedelic Baby Magazine. A twisted anthem and anti-omen in one, the track flips the superstition script by speaking directly from the perspective of Bad Luck itself—unbothered by your rituals, cats, or manifestations.
The surreal lofi video, shot in New Orleans by Emily Hughston Hoffman, follows frontperson Tarra Thiessen as she plants chalices in unexpected corners of the city. What unfolds is a visual spell charged with chaos, charm, and a healthy dose of absurdity—designed to confuse the very energies that define “bad luck.” The result is both a riot and a ritual, a celebration of chance and the kind of magic that emerges when you stop looking for meaning. “I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck” appears on Tea Eater’s sophomore LP of the same name, released March 28, 2025 on limited-edition blue vinyl, accompanied by a custom-designed tarot deck.
Known for turning campy fuzz-drenched chaos into high-energy sonic spells that inspire alternate realities. With members from Gustaf and Sharkmuffin, Tea Eater has supported Thee Oh Sees, Death Valley Girls, L.A. Witch and Sloppy Jane. They’ve completed East Coast and Midwest tours, two LA residencies, a performance at Distorsion Psych Fest (Montreal), and two headline UK/EU tours. Their live shows raise eyebrows and vibrations alike. Catch Tea Eater coming up August 13th at Nikki Lopez in Philly joined by Jasno Swarez, Jim E Brown, and Nancy Strong, grab tickets HERE.
