As a mid-point on their joint U.S. tour, Pretoria and Social Cig, two Midwest bands, made a stop in Philly last night to perform to a jam-packed crowd at Kung Fu Necktie.
Social Cig was first onstage, performing their indie skate rock jams with powerful vocals and an infectious energy. Through their captivating stage presence and nostalgic sound, they created an incredible whirlwind of an atmosphere that had fans buzzing. Their dynamic setlist included tracks off a number of their previous albums, EPs, and their latest single, “Lasso.”
Pretoria, the five-piece alternative indie rock band from Grand Rapids, MI, followed with their signature combo of pop and indie rock songs, setting the punchy, DIY vibe that would carry through the rest of their performance. Their chemistry onstage was palpable, leading the crowd through old favorites off their debut album, “Where Will the Night Take Us,” and recent gems like “Don’t Fade,” their latest single.
The joint tour continues South this week, with stops in Silver Spring, MD, Charlotte, NC, and Nashville, TN. Social Cig’s forthcoming album is set to drop in September of this year.Philly-natives Pink Blush and Diet Lemon opened the show.
