On the outskirts of Philly, the night was alight from the outdoor Skyline Stage at The Mann as though it was the weekend and not a Monday. Pierce the Veil, one of the biggest post-hardcore bands that defined an era in the mid to late-2000s, performed to a sold-out crowd after being joined by Sleeping With Sirens and Daisy Grenade. On their I Can’t Hear You World Tour, playing the biggest shows of their career, Pierce the Veil hit Philadelphia like a freight train.
The band’s epic introduction theme, Vicente Fernandez’s “El Rey,” rallied the onlookers with anticipation and suspense, teasing them until they took the stage, and the entire place erupted. The dedication and love that the audience had for Pierce the Veil were in full force. Smiles and tears were drawn across nearly every face as the band played legendary songs like “Death of an Executioner” and “Bulls in the Bronx.” Heavy guitar, potent vocals, and rumbling bass dominated the air, and there was so much headbanging that a few brains were probably knocked loose. One could say it’s a taste of what is yet to come as Pierce the Veil moves on to their next shows at a sold-out Madison Square Garden and Red Rocks Amphitheatre, two nights that no one will want to miss.
