On Wednesday evening, in the heart of Philadelphia, swarms of people made their way to the entrance of The Met, despite the raging heat, to see the Mexican singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade. Ms. Lafourcade would go on to perform for the final date of her U.S. tour, which shares the name with her latest and twelfth album, Cancionera – a visual and musical journey recorded live on analog tape in one take. An intimate evening of poetic expression unfolded as Lafourcade invited the audience into her conceptual world, described as the ‘Theater of Song,’ a space transformed through the power of song and theatrical performance. Enchanting the audience into her world of wonder, songs such as “Apertura Cancionera,” “Cancionera,” and “De todas las flores” showcased Lafourcade’s unique artistic expression manifested on stage, accompanied by physical props to represent the chair in the soul and the flower in the heart. Natalia Lafourcade will continue sharing her masterful musical voyage on upcoming dates in Canada and then Europe.
