Johnny Brenda’s felt like a homecoming during last night’s Hardcore Friends Show, the annual birthday gig for Matt DiMaio. Dominic Angelella and Eric Slick reunited, performing songs from Lithuania and DRGN King, their long-running project that thrives on raw chemistry and cutting vocals.
The bill was stacked with local heavy-hitters. The Tisburys brought energy and momentum, showcasing the collaborative spirit of their new album A Still Life Revisited, blending rootsy millennial indie with anthemic rock. Twin Princess opened the night by transforming the room into a disco ball dreamscape, pulling from the softer, emotional world of their 2023 album, Blood Moon. The show doubled as a celebration of Philadelphia’s music community, benefiting The Philadelphia Music Alliance, Musicopia, and Mic’d Up.
