With hurricane Debbie rolling through Philadelphia at the same time as Green Day’s The Saviors Tour, it wasn’t looking like the weather was going to be welcoming Philly to paradise. But the weather did finally change up and all the acts were able to perform, except for the Linda Lindas. Green Day gracefully included them in their set to perform a Linda Linda song, 'Oh!', just before leaving the stage. Green Day played their 30-year-old classic album 'Dookie' along with their album 'American Idiot' in their entirety.
Fans were locked in from the beginning as the lights went down with Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and the Ramones's 'Blitzkrieg Pop' played as the entrance music, which got the fans singing and cheering. Citizens Bank Park erupted as Green Day Opened with The American Dream is Killing Me, with the band going right into their album 'Dookie' as the fans sung along with songs like 'Welcome to Paradise', 'She', and 'When I come Around'. The production was filled with iconic views and imagery from both albums along with stage pyrotechnics throughout the night. They went on to perform their recent album 'American Idiot' and ended the night with a double encore 'Bobby Sox' and 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)'.
This morning, the band posted a note that their performance tonight will be unfortunately postponed. "Philly, you were unreal last night! Thanks for powering through the rain with us! Sadly, right after stepping off stage, Billie lost his voice and won't be able to perform at this evening’s show in Hershey. We’re so sorry to be missing you tonight, but here’s the good news - the rescheduled date is Sept 2 so hold on to your tickets - we will see you then!"
