Muscle Tough Releases Too Busy 4 Jail
Philly trio Muscle Tough have been performing shows to celebrate their 10th year making music as a band and have released their latest album, Too Busy 4 Jail. From downright chaotic to delicate & tender, and technically the band's third LP, Too Busy 4 Jail spans the spectrum of emotions and style. One quickly learns that there's nothing this band can't do, showing the compositional prowess and experience under their belts. Harkening back to their 2016 EP title track, Greasin' Up The Mediocrity Wheel, MT delivers a progressive approach with complex arrangements, while delivering engaging and developing music, the things an instrumental band strives for, of course.
It's worth noting that Muscle Tough's three individual members have become quite prolific in the Philadelphia music scene, having sat-in, produced with, composed with/for, or simply put on shows with a myriad of local minstrels in our great city. And over the past 10 years the band has played at Philly venues like TIME, Milkboy, Connies Ric Rac, Silk City, Bourbon & Branch, Heritage, Ortlieb's, Fillmore Philly, Brooklyn Bowl Philly, Johnny Brenda's, Ardmore Music Hall, and most recently at Tonewood Brewing. Also, just last month, MT guitarist Ross Bellenoit released his side project album, Signals, which can be heard here.
Watching the band easily walk their way in to jamband & funk festivals has been a treat to watch over the past decade, slowly mixing in with so many artists and bands, developing connections and friendships. The trio recently performed and released their own hardback book to celebrate the 10-year anniversary as a band at Brooklyn Bowl Philly on June 1st, following it up with a performance at the 2024 Beardfest in Hammonton, NJ. Muscle Tough will perform at this year's 11th Annual Jam on The Grass in northeast Philadelphia at the Cannstatter Biergarten on Saturday September 14th, enter for a chance to win tickets to the one-day festival here.
